Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Joy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Service Description

This is a pre realease version of the service. It is not intended for production use. The service is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The system's api keys are not configured yet, you can use service using your own api keys. The payments are currently sandboxed, meaning no money is being charged. Joy is a project management tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help users break down complex projects into structured, actionable tasks. The Service includes project creation, AI-powered breakdown generation, interactive decision blocks, project branching, project sharing, and export capabilities (Markdown, ZIP, Jira).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using Joy, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under the required age in your jurisdiction, you may not use the Service.

4. Account Responsibilities

• You sign in using a third-party OAuth provider (Google, GitHub, or Microsoft). We do not store passwords.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your OAuth account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal, harmful, or abusive purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Upload, share, or generate content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful

6. Subscriptions & Payments

6.1 Plans

Joy offers subscription-based plans (monthly and yearly) and one-time token packages. Plan details, pricing, and token limits are displayed on the Pricing page and may be updated from time to time.

6.2 Free Trial

First-time subscribers to the Starter plan are eligible for a 3-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription.

6.3 Billing

Payments are processed by Polar, our third-party payment processor. By subscribing, you agree to Polar's terms and authorize recurring charges to your payment method. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the end of the current billing period.

6.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Billing. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your access to premium features will be revoked.

6.5 One-Time Token Purchases

Additional tokens can be purchased as one-time packages. These tokens supplement your subscription limit and do not expire. An active subscription is required to purchase and use additional tokens.

7. Refund Policy

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. However, if you cancel within the first 14 days of your initial subscription (excluding the free trial period) and have not significantly used the Service, you may request a refund by contacting us. Refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

One-time token purchases are non-refundable once tokens have been credited to your account. If you experience a billing error, please contact us promptly.

8. AI-Generated Content

Joy uses third-party AI services (including OpenAI, Google AI, and Anthropic) to generate project breakdowns, summaries, questions, and other content. You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated content is provided "as is" without any warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose
• AI outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate content — always review AI-generated content for accuracy before acting on it
• You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated content in your projects
• Your project content is sent to AI providers for processing — this is necessary to provide the Service
• We are not liable for any decisions or actions taken based on AI-generated content

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within Joy (project descriptions, requirements, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

9.2 Our Service

Joy, including its design, code, and infrastructure, is the intellectual property of Joy. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Content Takedown (DMCA)

If you believe content on Joy infringes your copyright, please contact us with a description of the copyrighted work and the location of the infringing content. We will review and respond to valid takedown requests in accordance with applicable law.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Jurisdiction]. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of [Your Jurisdiction].

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
